Falling for These Spots: The Ultimate Autumn Student Guide

October 21, 2026

I would say I'm a self-proclaimed expert on everything fall in Pocatello. Not only is fall my favorite season, but I have also lived in The Gate City my entire life. I have been asked many times where the best coffee shops, fall activities, and study spots are around campus, so today I will spill all my secrets on the best places to be this fall.

Starting off with study spots because we are in the season of midterms, presentations, and
thesis defense preparation.

Leonard Hall
â— The first is the giant study room on the second floor of the Leonard Hall. It is by far the best study area I have found on campus, with comfy seats, lots of outlets, and windows overlooking the quad so you can watch the rain, snow, or leaves changing.
College of Education
â— If the weather is nice, I love going up behind the College of Education to a cute grassy area with wooden lawn chairs, a little bridge, and lots of greenery.
College of Business
â— My final go-to spot for studying on campus is the College of Business study lounge on the first floor, where the dark, quiet ambiance helps me focus when I need to study for exams.

There are also many amazing coffee shops to hang out with friends and study at during the fall.

Gate City Coffee
â— My absolute favorite is Gate City Coffee. They have the best coffee and food with lots of different options and flavors for any time of the day. They also have super comfortable seats and free Wifi!
ImPressed Coffee Co.
â— Coming in second is ImPressed Coffee Co. They have lots of fun drinks that consistently rotate, their staff are the sweetest people ever, and they have karaoke nights every Friday night. As an added bonus, their outdoor seating is really nice, and they set up patio heaters to keep everyone nice and cozy.
Purpose Tea
â— Finally, if you’re not really a coffee person and would prefer other drink options, I would definitely recommend Purpose Tea. The cafe offers lots of boba teas and lemonades as well as coffee, and being in the middle of Main Street makes it easy to visit with friends.

Fall in Pocatello also offers a lot of fun activities around the holidays.

Swore Farms
â— For a quick 20-minute drive, you can visit Swore Farms, which has a corn maze for all ages and a pumpkin patch.

Haunted Houses

â— For anyone who wants a quick scare, SRD’s Haunted Acre, Slaughter’s Realm, and Escape the Madhouse are haunted houses in the area that I love to go to every year. Escape the Madhouse is especially fun because it is a puzzle game in addition to a haunted house.

Hiking
â— But my all-time favorite fall activity is hiking when the weather is perfect, and the fall colors are in full bloom. City Creek, Scout Mountain, and Cherry Springs are all beautiful this time of year, and lots of fun to hike with friends for a couple of hours.

Whether you want something fun to do with friends this fall, or are just looking for a place to relax and study, there is something for everyone in Pocatello. Enjoy everything Pocatello has to offer this fall, and make the most of this season.
