What Is a Strength?

A talent is a naturally recurring pattern of thought, feeling, or behavior that can be productively applied. Talents influence how we:

  • Process information
  • Interact with others
  • Understand and navigate the world

A strength is developed when talent is intentionally refined through:

  • Knowledge
  • Skills
  • Experience
  • Practice

The CliftonStrengths® approach focuses on helping individuals build what they naturally do best rather than concentrating primarily on weaknesses.

How CliftonStrengths® Can Support You

Faculty

Leverage your natural talents in:

  • Teaching
  • Research
  • Service
  • Innovation and scholarship within your discipline

Staff

Identify and develop your strengths to:

  • Improve performance and engagement
  • Increase productivity and collaboration
  • Feel more supported and fulfilled at work

Leadership

Develop a more authentic leadership style by:

  • Understanding the strengths of team members
  • Building trust, compassion, stability, and hope
  • Helping others reach their potential

Teams

Strengths-based teams are better equipped to:

  • Improve communication and collaboration
  • Understand and appreciate individual differences
  • Build trust and engagement among team members
  • Increase productivity by focusing on what each person naturally does best
  • Create a more supportive and effective workplace culture

By understanding one another’s strengths, teams can work more intentionally, reduce friction, and maximize collective success.

Why Â鶹´«Ã½AV Uses CliftonStrengths®

Â鶹´«Ã½AV has chosen Gallup CliftonStrengths® to help employees and students identify and develop their greatest talents.

The assessment helps individuals better understand how they naturally think, feel, and behave — and how those patterns can become powerful strengths when intentionally developed.

Included for Participants

Individuals who complete the full “Introduction to CliftonStrengths®” workshop will receive a personalized CliftonStrengths® desk nameplate featuring their Top 5 themes.

This keeps strengths visible and actionable while also helping colleagues better understand and communicate with one another as team members.
