Pollinator Week

2026

National Pollinator Week will be held June 22 through June 28, 2026.  The Portneuf Pollinator Partnership composed of various community organizations will celebrate pollinators during that week with free public events, culminating with a special event at Idaho Fish and Game’s Edson Fichter Nature Area on June 27 from 11 am to 2 pm.

Celebrate National Pollinator Week! | June 22-28, 2026; around the Portneuf Valley

  • Monday, June 22 
    • 9 am: Plant Walk led by Paul Allen, Sawabi Chapter of the Idaho Native Plant Society.  Meet at the bison statue outside the Idaho Museum of Natural History for directions to the walk site. The exact location, a nearby area outside of town, will be selected one to two days before the event to coincide with peak wildflower bloom conditions. This is a family-friendly event with some off-trail walking and there may be moderate terrain. Also, in addition to dressing appropriately for the outdoors and weather conditions, bring UV protection such as a hat, sunscreen, and water.
    • 3 pm: Children’s painting (K-8) with plant dyes class led by Elizabeth Dyer, Portneuf Pollinator Partnership and Sawabi Chapter of Idaho Native Plant Society at the Marshall Public Library.
  • Tuesday, June 23 
    • 6 pm: Idaho Fish and Game Talk, Erik Bartholomew: “Do you like chocolate? Thank a Pollinator!” at the Idaho Museum of Natural History Bring your family to learn more about how you can help pollinators.
    • 6 pm: Pollinator Paint Night ($35) at Jim Dandy’s. This activity is suitable for adults. 
  • Wednesday, June 24
    • 7:30 am: Meditative Nature Walk, led by Amber Greening and Rick Pongratz, Âé¶¹´«Ã½AV Counseling and Mental Health Center. Meet at Edson Fichter Nature Area amphitheater. Join us for this inspiring family-friendly event.
    • 6 pm: Pollinator Garden Tour led by Linda Popelka, Portneuf Pollinator Partnership, Sawabi Native Plant Society. Meet at Sacagawea Park Pollinator Garden, Aspen Lane. This event is for all ages. Join us for a tour of the beautiful pollinator garden.
  • Thursday, June 25
    • 4-5 pm: Music performance by Snake River New Horizons Band along the path to the bridge Edson Fichter Nature Area. Music will be a mix of summer and patriotic. Everyone is welcome to attend! If people want to stroll through the nature area, they are welcome to do so, or they can bring a chair to sit and enjoy. 
  • Saturday, June 27
    • 7 am: Morning birding led by Eric Rude, Friends of Edson Fichter Nature Area at Edson Fichter Nature Area amphitheater. This event is family friendly, for all ages.  
    • 11-2 pm: Pollinator Day Celebration: 11–2 pm at Edson Fichter Nature Area.
    • 12:00 pm: Be sure to join us at the Monarch Waystation as Mayor Dahlquist presents the official Pollinator Week Proclamation.

2025

  • Guided Plant Walks were led by Sawabi Chapter of the Idaho Native Plant Society, Pocatello’s Sacajawea Park Pollinator Garden.
  • Story Time and Seed Paper Making was held at the Marshall Public Library.
  • Guided Family Bird Walk, Edson Fichter Nature Area.
  • The Pollinator Celebration on June 21, 2025 had 171 visitors and offered information booths and fun activities that promoted the importance of Idaho’s pollinators to wildlife habitats and the agriculture industry.
